Why Skyline Chinchillas?  ..........This is why!

About Us

Skyline Chinchillas is based in Aberdeenshire, located near the North-east coast of Scotland. We have kept chinchillas for many years now and although we do breed, we consider them as pets.

We are members of the National Chinchilla Society of which I am currently the Vice Chairman for the Scottish Region.

Our Chinchilla herd currently consists of both Standard and Mutation animals from some of the best UK and American Breeders. All of our chinchillas have full pedigrees and traceable history.

We have the stock to produce the following colours: Standards, Beiges, Wilson Whites, Brown Velvets, Black Velvets and Pink Whites

We don’t protest to know everything but if you are looking for advise or have general enquiries regarding chinchillas we are only to happy to assist. Please use the contact form on our ‘for sale’ page or email us by clicking on the ‘contact us’ page of this website.

Please visit our ‘for sale’ page if you’re looking for a pet or breeding chinchilla.  We normally have most of our chinchillas in breeding by mid – November so expect kits around late February into March. However a small number of our females will be paired a little later. If you wish to show an interest in the offspring of a particular pairing, please get in touch.

Our breeding set-up

Like nearly all breeders, we have a purpose built shed that accommodates our beloved chinchillas (and our rescued chinchillas too!)

The shed is equipped with an air-conditioning unit for the hot summer months (not that you need it much here is Scotland) and a tubular heater to keep the shed warm in the winter.

We have on one side a single run of poly cages that accommodates 6 females and of course one male. One the other side of the shed are our stock cages. These remain empty most of the time and are only used to house our weaned kits during the show season. On the back wall of the shed we have a few cages set aside for pair breding.

Our shed is 13ft x 10ft and has the capacity for a lot more chinchillas. However at this time we are happy with our current numbers and are enjoying lots of space!
